Pie chart

Dashboard component reference for the Pie chart, how a whole divides across live points, with every editor property.

The Pie chart shows how a whole divides: one slice per address, read at this moment, as a pie, a doughnut or a half doughnut. Like the Bar chart it is a categorical chart: no time axis, no window, no cadence, no retention. The two share their content, points and format sections; only the drawing below differs.

A point that is not reading is left out of the comparison instead of being drawn at zero, and the chart says so under the drawing. A screen that has only just opened says nothing yet.

Content and points

Slices

Labels	What is written beside each slice. The name is always part of a drawn label (a number floating beside an unnamed wedge says nothing), and the choice is what accompanies it. Labels sit	Where the writing sits. Outside costs ring diameter and leader lines: each label is written between the end of its leader line and the edge of the cell, a label longer than that room ends in an ellipsis, and the tooltip carries it whole. The name takes a line of its own and the reading and the share the line under it, so the room cuts the name and never the share. A cell too narrow to write beside the ring drops the labels and lists the slices in the legend instead, one per line (under the plot when the legend is none): a name longer than its line ends in an ellipsis and the tooltip over the line shows it whole. The list takes at most five lines, and fewer in a cell too short to also keep a third of its height for the ring: with more slices than lines, it shows them a page at a time, with the arrows and the page counter (such as 1/3) on its last line. The labels come back once the cell is wide enough. Inside spends none of the cell on the labels and needs a slice wide enough to hold one. Legend	Where the legend sits. With no label beside the ring (Labels set to Nothing, or sitting inside the slice), the legend alone names the slices: a cell too narrow to write every name on its one row lists the slices one per line instead, the same list a narrow cell draws in place of outside labels (see Labels sit). Scale bands

The Scale section declares stretches of the value range through the shared band editor. On a pie the bands are a palette: they tint each slice by where its reading falls, and nothing more: slices of one whole have no single stretch the drawing is in, so no wording field and no reference are offered. A reading past the last bound keeps the slice's authored ink.
