Label

Static text on the screen: size, alignment, weight, slant and ink, all yours to state.

Label is the screen's writing — a screen title, a caption under a symbol, the heading of a group. It is the one component whose whole configuration is how its text is drawn: nothing about it is an address, it reads no point, and it never wears the bad-reading or lock marks. It is a Display component; a new one occupies 4 × 1 cells.

Because a Value, LED, Input or slider deliberately draws no caption of its own, the Label is how you name things on a dashboard: place one beside the component it describes, wherever you want it.

Text The text shown on the dashboard. It is also the declaration behind the automatic type size: rewriting the words moves the width the size is held under. Free text Label

Type

How the writing is drawn. This section is the Label's own; what the component's box looks like — frame, fill, corner title, content scale — is the shared Appearance section.

Field What it does Values Default
Size Whether the cell decides the type size or you state it. A stated size is what lets the captions of one screen agree: fitted, each one is sized by its own cell and no two come out alike. As big as the cell affords · A size I state As big as the cell affords
Points The stated size. Only shown in the stated mode, and literal: the cell and the content scale no longer change it. Text the cell cannot hold truncates with the whole of it in the tooltip. A size outside the band is taken at the nearest edge and the panel says so. 9 to 144 points 12
Across Which way the words are set across the cell. Left · Centered · Right Left
Down Where the line sits between the top and the bottom of the cell. In a cell too short for the line, the text hangs from the top and stays readable instead of being cut at both ends. Top · Middle · Bottom Middle
Bold Draws the text in the bold weight. on / off off
Italic Slants the text. on / off off
Ink Where the text takes its color from. The interface's own ink already answers to the running theme; a color of your own is a pair, one half per theme. The interface's ink · A color The interface's ink
Light / Dark The ink pair, shown only when Ink is A color. Both halves stay on screen at once because the running theme decides which one paints — a single color would silently break the theme it was not chosen in. Each half is a swatch plus a hex field (#RRGGBB); a half-typed hex is refused and the field snaps back to the color in force. #RRGGBB each #1A1A1A light · #F3F3F3 dark

Truncation

The rule holds in both size modes: what the cell cannot hold ellipsizes, and the whole text is in the tooltip. In automatic mode the size is bounded by the width the authored words reserve — counted per character, so an i and a W are not charged the same — which is why two cells of the same size carrying the same words always draw them the same size.

The shared Appearance, Identification, Position and layer and Actions sections are described on the components page.
