# About and Legal

> What the product is and which version runs, and the Terms of Use and Desktop Privacy Policy this station accepted, readable offline.

About and Legal are the last two rows of the APPLICATION group on the Settings page. About names the product and the version to quote when you report something; Legal keeps the two documents accepted at the station's first use readable, offline, in the same text the acceptance showed. Both are read-only, and the page takes the **Change settings** permission like every other row.

## About {#about}

There is nothing to press here. The version also sits at the right end of the status bar on every page.

## Legal {#legal}

The card opens with "The Terms of Use and the Desktop Privacy Policy accepted on this station's first use. Both stay readable here, offline, in the same text the acceptance showed." Two rows follow, one per document.

The version text takes one of three forms: "Version D, accepted on this station." when the station accepted the version the app carries; "Version D. This station accepted version E." when the app now carries a newer text than the one accepted; and "Version D. Not yet accepted on this station." when nothing was recorded. Versions are dates.

The text is the app's own embedded copy, kept identical to the one the Ganter site publishes and projected to plain text. It is read in the language of the Windows display culture when the app carries a copy for it (Portuguese and French map to the Brazilian and Canadian texts) and in English otherwise. The deployment facts the documents refer to (the company's legal name, registration and address, the contact address, the hosting and e-mail providers, the processing countries and the regional representatives) are filled in from the app's configuration; where one is not configured the text shows a placeholder such as "[configure Legal:CompanyLegalName]". If a document cannot be loaded at all the row shows "The legal document could not be loaded. Exit and contact the software provider."

Acceptance is recorded once, at first use, together with the moment. A material change to either desktop document brings that dialog back once at the next start, in its revision state: it says the documents were revised, names each one with the version this station accepted and the version now in force, and carries a line about what changed; a change to the site's own privacy policy does not. The international-transfer consent is not recorded on the station: it belongs to the account registration on the website.

## What these sections do not do {#what-these-sections-do-not-do}

Nothing here changes the acceptance or withdraws it. Subscription, seats and the signed-in Ganter account are on the [Account](account) page. The third-party license notices of the bundled components ship as `THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt` beside the executable and are not shown in the app.
